Animal Sculptured Needle Felting

How you ever wanted to make adorable felted animals that everyone loves? Karen will show you how to use that extra yarn to shape cute figures in this beginner needle felting workshop. Join us in a morning of fun as you learn to poke and prod your way to a barn full of fuzzy animals.

Level: Beginner

Maximum Number of Participants: 12

Cost: $45 for AO members $55 for non AO members

$15 for materials (1 felting needle, 1 finger guard, foam base, and assorted wool) – please bring material payment day of workshop

Colour to Dye For

Do you have luxurious fibre that you wish was a different colour? This class is for you! In this 4 hour class you will use natural dyes to create a colour wheel of multi shades. You will test and discover what happens when you use different shades of yarn.

Level: Beginner

Maximum Number of Participants: 15

Cost: $65 for AO members, $75 for non AO members.

Kit Fisher has been working with textiles since she was a very young child, knitting, weaving, spinning then dying. It has fascinated her how one can take a yarn or fibre and create some thing very different and special. That was the wonderful rabbit hole she fell down many years ago. Since then she has been creating a variety of wonderful colours using natural dyes

Weaving on a Triangular Loom

Learn to do continuous weave on a 40-inch triangular loom to make a small shawl that can be worn as a cowl. Several finishing options will be demonstrated. Other weaving techniques such as bias weaving and cut strand weaving will be shown for future weaving projects on your own. Four hours should be enough time to complete the project but students that are not done will have the information to complete later, on their own. The loom is yours to keep and enjoy! This workshop sold out in 48 hours at the infamous Twist Fibre Festival.

MATERIALS PROVIDED:

• Triangular loom

• Yarn

Lise Marleau-Nesbitt – Lonely Oak Alpacas

Lise Marleau-Nesbitt is a fibre artist known for her one-of-a-kind felted, woven, knitted, hand-spun, hand-dyed garments and accessories showcasing her love of colour and texture. Her fibre of choice is the alpaca fibre from her own herd of alpacas but she also works with other fibres such as merino wool, silk and Bluefaced Leceister wool.

Punch Needle Rug Hooking- Little Landscapes

Punch Needle Rug Hooking is taking the fibre world by storm and here is your chance to try it! It is simple, instantly gratifying and fun to learn! You’ll be introduced to the basics of punch needle while creating a beautiful little landscape with gorgeous yarns that will be ready to display as soon as your punching is finished. Oxford Punch Needles may be borrowed during class time and purchased after if you wish.

SIMONE VOJVODIN – RED MAPLE RUGGERY

Simone Vojvodin is very passionate about teaching punch needle rug hooking and has been an Oxford Certified instructor since 2011. A nature and animal lover, she resides near Dutton, Ontario where she has her studio, Red Maple Ruggery. Simone loves designing patterns, dying wool, helping students, and of course punching rugs- which she describes as ‘paintings in wool’. Her rugs have been featured in exhibitions in Canada and the U.S.A., published in magazines and books, and have won multiple awards.
