2010 Juried Fibre Arts & People’s Choice Competition

Fibre Arts Competition 2010 brought in 30 entries in 4 categories - Garment, Accessories, Scarves and Household/Miscellaneous. The quality and originality of the entries increases with every passing year. There were some lovely ladies fashions entered in the garment competition, one of which won the Judge's Choice Award. A greater variety in styles and colours of scarves would be hard to find in any fashion boutique. Accessories ranged from gloves, to stockings to purses and hats. The household category this year included rugs and blankets as well as 2 fantastic pieces of art and some decorative candles.
Our judge this year was Harriet Boon. Harriet was also one of our spinners this year in the spin-off competition. Harriet studied at Georgian College and has been a spinner and fibre specialist for many years. She along with Bev Vanhanen, her assistant for the day, worked their way through the entries on Friday prior to the halter show. Harriet thoroughly enjoyed her experience judging alpaca arts. She was generous with her comments and suggestions on the score sheets and had many positive things to say about the quality of our Canadian Alpaca.

Congratulations to all the Fibre Arts and People's Choice Winners! Get your thinking caps on - we're hoping you bring us some more wonderful items of inspiration in 2011!
